In addition to the HTTP protocol, SMS messages can be sent and received using the industry standard SMPP protocol. The SMPP interface is available to all existing and new messaging customers, and the same credentials are used for authentication. Clients may choose to implement any of the available interfaces, and they can be mixed freely. However, Roottori recommends that the HTTP interface is used for applications optimized for maximum throughput. The SMPP interface is extended to allow for premium two-way messaging. The extensions define mechanisms for communicating end-user tariffs and operator details (mobile country code / mobile network code values). The full SMPP interface specification can be downloaded from http://www.smsforum.net/. This documentation specifies the behaviour of the Roottori SMPP implementation, as well as extensions thereto. |
